The Body Factor and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

I’ve received several emails since releasing my new book 5 Steps to a Happy, Healthy, Wealthy YOU! through music, the mind, and meditation available at Amazon.com. The messages are asking about many areas, so let’s take them one group at a time. In this Newsletter, I’ll deal with one aspect of the Body Factor and redesigning your body.

First, I’d like to share the beginning of how I redesigned my body to reach my current weight, which is 40 pounds (18kg) less than the weight I was at prior to starting my program! And I’ve also built lean muscle at the same time without bulking and cutting, without any protein powders or any special tricks, without eating five meals a day, and without hours in the gym each week–just simple, sensible, and natural training.

My best estimate of total fat loss is about 45 pounds (20.4kg) because I added about 5 pounds (2.2kg) of muscle.  The first 15 pounds (6.8kg) came off primarily through life changes when I moved to China and started walking a lot everyday!  More on this experience in another post. Suffice it to say that this intense daily walking was my natural introduction to a type of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) before I even knew what HIIT was. Most of the weight came off in the span of about 8 weeks, which is about 2.75  pounds (1.25kg) a week (total of 22 more pounds/10kg), when I started my Body Redesign Program. I started with just 5 minutes of HIIT per day!  After a few days, I built up to 10 minutes and added a few simple eating and nutritional changes, then I made it to 15 minutes a day. Once I reached 15 minutes of HIIT, I added some simple calisthenics and weight training, and began to see even more transformations, which lead to another 8 pounds (3.6kg) of fat coming off and gains of about 5 pounds (2.2kg) of muscle.

What I actually did and am continuing to do for exercise and nutrition is a topic for other newsletters. The process I started and am still doing is quite powerful and it’s also very fun and incredibly fulfilling! However, the specific exercises and nutritional changes are not actually the most important thing at the beginning of the program. The most important thing is not what I did, but rather why I started the transformation when I did? Now don’t get me wrong, what you do is important, but at the beginning, it is not the most important.  I will share my total program later.  For this newsletter, I want to focus on the question Why?

Why didn’t I start a day sooner or a day later? Or a month sooner or later? The answer can be found in “Step 2: DECIDE” of my 5 Step System.  Once a true and complete decision is made–a decision that is made with your whole being and is the most important thing in your life at that moment, then success is virtually guaranteed. For me, the decision for body transformation / body redesign came as the essential first step to reach a new level of success and prosperity in life, and I have to say, it feels wonderful!

Now, to really get to the most important thing is the key, and only you know what it is. Usually there is so much chatter and noise going on in the mind, that often it’s practically impossible to hear your inner truth and the knowing that you have in your heart and soul.  Sometimes you might actually hear the inner truth and have a clear sense of what the most important thing is in life right now, but then the clever mind can often “rationalize” it away, or bury it with doubt, fear, or shame. This is where a clear and systematic process is key, first to identify the most important thing, then to know how to take daily action to bring what you have identified into reality.
