Reboot your System with Forgiveness & Gratitude in Meditation

Recent trip to Yunnan Province Shilin Stone Forest!

Hello Friends!

The power of forgiveness and gratitude is truly miraculous. It can reboot your system into a whole new way of feeling, thinking, and living. And it can do this everyday!

When you truly forgive and express heartfelt thankfulness, the results are astounding, refreshing, and beautiful. Forgiveness and gratitude can and do recalibrate your mind, heart, body, and soul. When you experience forgiveness and thankfulness at a heart level, you can literally feel the physical energy moving through your body–this might be a kind of tingling on your skin, the sensation of a warm flow through your body, or a release of a great weight accompanied by a lightness or buoyancy you hadn’t felt before.

This is all very fresh in my mind because of a recent case from the past couple of weeks that I wanted to share a bit about.

For the past two weeks I’ve dedicated some special time to working one-on-one with a friend who has studied some different types of meditation and who has tried to meditate in order to solve some personal difficulties but was getting stuck. (English is not his first language and so he is waiting for my 5 Steps book to come out in Chinese–more on that later 🙂 ).

Everyday his life was becoming worse–more stress, more worry, and more problems, which he described as being intense mental and emotional problems that he just couldn’t shake off. He felt that he had no control and that the situations were literally controlling his life. He was losing faith in himself, in God, and everything. There are many interesting and telling details about his specific situation, but suffice it to say that he was desperate. After I returned from some talks at the Yunnan University of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) we met for an hour or so.

“What can I do??!!”  Was his deep and heartfelt question…”How can I change these thoughts that are haunting me?” With each issue he was dealing with, he asked “Why is this happening?” “How can I change it?” “What should I do?”

Enter forgiveness and gratitude…

Rather than give you a detailed account of his particular case and how the meditation practice relates to each little bit, I’ll distill it here for you into what I gave him to use everyday–every morning and evening. This is a powerful practice that anyone can use and the results will amaze you if you do it consistently.

Below is the meditation recipe I gave him and that he has been using for the past two weeks since our meeting. For a few days after he started, I was in direct contact to remind him what to do and how to do it–basically I sent him messages in the morning and evening restating the steps that we had discussed in our meeting.

Just to give you an idea of his experience and the effect–his last few messages to me have been brilliant and he has become a totally new person, with him saying that the meditation is “bringing me back to my true self”, one that is “happy and full of confidence”. And he’s said that the experience of “meditation is amazing”, “moving at a faster pace”, and now “he sees clearly who he is and who can be.” He has rekindled his personal spiritual practices and has found a happy and powerful energy that is supporting him throughout the day.  He is back in control of his life and has vision.

Steps for a simple and powerful Meditation of Forgiveness and Gratitude

MORNING

This morning, take 5 minutes for Forgiveness and Gratitude.

First thing when you wake in the morning, laying in your bed, sitting, or standing up, place your hand on your heart and take a deep breath. Feel your lungs expand and be thankful for that breath, offer thanks to God or the Universe, or simply be thankful and breathe.

As you are in a state of gratitudeforgive everyone with all your heart.

Forgive yourself, your parents, your friends, everyone that comes to heart or mind.

See them in your mind, breathe in and embrace them with your forgiveness. Let your forgiveness wash over you, yourself. Let your forgiveness wash over everyone. Continue to breathe naturally and deeply…each breath expressing your forgiveness and gratitude.

Be thankful for all that you have, for all that you are, and all that you will become.

Then see yourself as your best self, exactly how you want to be.

See it….feel it…and be thankful.

Smile gently, breathe in and out ten times and get ready for a new day, full of surprises!!

THROUGHOUT THE DAY

Every time you have the opportunity throughout your day to be thankful… be thankful 🙂 Offer thanks and be in a state of gratitude.

Now here is a little power trick 🙂  At any time during the day, if you are confronted with a problem, immediately offer thanks for the opportunity to learn, and ask yourself “what do I have to learn from this situation?” Every circumstance is like a teacher for us and can either be a stumbling block or a stepping stone.  Offer thanks and make it a stepping stone to a higher level.

If there is an extremely difficult situation, if you can, remove yourself from the situation and do a one minute meditation: Place your hand on your heart, breathe in and offer gratitude and forgiveness. Be grateful for all the blessings in your life and for the opportunity to be aware of your situation, to be thankful, and to make a decision about your next step.  Take that next step with gratitude, in power, and in peace.

EVENING

This evening, take 5 minutes for Forgiveness and Gratitude.

While laying in your bed (or in any position you like), place your hand on your heart and take a deep breath. Feel your lungs expand and be thankful for that breath, offer thanks to God or the Universe, or simply be thankful and breathe.

As you are in a state of gratitude, forgive everyone with all your heart.

Breathe in and out ten times….smile gently, be thankful and for the wonderful sleep you are drifting into and for your new day tomorrow.

Try this Forgiveness and Gratitude meditation for one week.  And if you’re really up for powerful experience–grab a notebook and journal a paragraph or two (or a page or two) about your experience everyday, and your dreams at night.  Doing this journaling can help you to reflect on all the effects that the meditation has throughout your day. Keep in mind that sometimes, very subtle things happen, and at other times even major things happen that you might not connect to your meditation—but remember, meditation influences everything in life because it is working at a soul level of your being.

It is beautiful and can shift things into a totally new realm of experience. Practice it daily, consistently every morning and evening and get ready for great wonders!

REBOOT UPDATED!

As promised, below is a brief and powerful Three-Part Mantra for your Meditation. Here is what to do:

Breath in deeply and naturally, relax and close your eyes. Place your hand on your heart and bring yourself–YOU, to the front of your mind and say out loud the Three-Part Mantra:

I forgive you, I love you, I am grateful for you.

Feel this in your heart…breath and repeat the phrase a few times. Feel your inspiration and exhalation moving the energy of forgiveness, love, and gratitude in you, through you, and into the universe.

Now choose another person and see that person in your mind and do the same. Breath in and then say:

I forgive you, I love you, I am grateful for you.

Repeat this as many times as you feel it and feel your body, heart, and soul moving into strength, vitality, and joy.

All my best wishes for a Happy, Healthy, Wealthy YOU!

Ben
