Meditation, Money and Wealth

Hello Friends!  Two of the themes you’ve seen in my newsletters about meditation is that 1) Meditation is an essential need we have as humans; and 2) While the many different approaches to meditation can be learned, meditation is also a natural experience we have along a spectrum of states of mind.  You can see a post about that here 10 Ways You Meditate Without Knowing It.

Often people ask how meditation can help with financial freedom and wealth. Here are some thoughts on that topic drawn from my 5 Step Meditation System to achieve all your life goals.

Once you learn a simple and effective approach to meditation, it will be as natural as breathing. Once you taste the sweet and gentle power of consistent meditation every morning and evening, which will transform your life in myriad ways, both great and small, you will come to see that meditation is as essential to life as water, food, air, sleep, shelter, love, and light.

You will long to return to your sacred space of meditation on a daily basis every morning and evening. As you develop an intimate and conscious relationship with your soul, you will soar further into the blissful heights of a spiritualized consciousness, savoring every step and every breath of life as a precious gift, extending the spiritual power of your meditative mind throughout the world, and bringing forth a fuller expression of the oneness of the spiritual-physical reality.

Question of the Week:

Sounds Good—Now What about Money and Wealth?

gold-bullion-163553_1280Wealth is a belief, an emotion, an experience of love, of giving and receiving; it is a mindset and a knowing that you are an abundant being, right now, as you are, regardless of how much money is in your bank account, or how high your net worth is.

There are plenty of financially rich people in the world who are not wealthy! Sure, wealth can include being financially rich, but true wealth is not dependent on money. Before we get into some details, let’s consider a few thoughts about wealth:

It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.

–Mahatma Gandhi

All the breaks you need in life wait within your imagination.

Imagination is the workshop of your mind, capable of turning

mind energy into accomplishment and wealth.

–Napoleon Hill

Wealth, like happiness, is never attained when sought after directly.

It comes as a by-product of providing a useful service.

–Henry Ford

Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth.

–Buddha

Whoever does not regard what he has as most ample wealth is unhappy,

though he be master of the world.

–Epictetus

No amount of money can ever make you wealthy.

–Tony Robbins

All riches have their origin in mind. Wealth is in ideas—not money.

–Robert Collier

When you know what true wealth is,

then and only then are you ready to be financially rich.

So, you might be asking, “OK, so if this is wealth, then what is financial freedom?” In the beginning, most people think that financial freedom means being a millionaire, or living a lifestyle of the rich and famous, or maybe just “being rich.” But what do these ideas really mean? And, better yet, what specifically does it mean for you to be financially free?

When people stop to genuinely think about what it would mean for them to be financially free, they realize that the dollar amount is actually far lower than they originally thought it would be. Also, they usually see two stages as precursors to financial freedom. The first is financial security, where all your debts are covered and where your investments generate enough cash flow to provide for all your basic necessities of life. The second is financial independence, where you are debt free, you never have to work again, and where, in addition to your necessities being provided for, basic life entertainment, travel, and some other extras that you desire are also covered. After that comes financial freedom, where you are debt free, you never have to work again, and the cash flow generated from your investments is enough to cover everything that you can imagine you might want.

One measure in the last two stages is that you never have to work. However, for a fulfilling life, you will work because your work is something that you love to do, as it adds value to your life and to the lives of others.

Five Realizations about Money and Wealth

Five of the most important realizations you can make about the financial and material part of life are:

  1. Material wealth, prosperity, and abundance are far more than just money; they are a state of mind and emotion, an experience, a consciousness, a way of being.
  1. Material wealth, the ability to create money, prosperity, and abundance are within you and you can manifest them in your life when you add value to the lives of others.
  1. Material wealth, money, prosperity, and abundance are a result of your beliefs, thoughts, and actions being rightly directed.
  1. Your beliefs, thoughts, and actions being rightly directed includes more than focusing on money and business; they must also encompass your body, mind, emotions, relationships, and spirit.
  1. You must have a financial plan with clear, effective strategies and take consistent measurable actions toward your financial goals.

My latest book gives you a holistic approach to life transformation and creating the total life you desire. From this perspective, and in the experience of people who have already gone through the process, true wealth is experienced as one progressively does the practices beginning in chapter 9 (but, remember, don’t skip ahead; you must read the whole book, from start to finish, in order to achieve the greatest success).

Building from this, financial freedom becomes a by-product of the practices. The focus is on the foundation out of which true wealth and financial freedom arise. I cannot overemphasize how important this foundation is—and that the foundation is you!

True and enduring wealth and financial freedom can only be built on a strong and whole foundation.

Today, there are so many resources available on investing and the mechanics of how to make your money work for you, whether you have no idea where to start from, or if you are more experienced with money, or if you are a sophisticated investor; whether you like the stock market, real estate, companies, business, commodities, or a combination of these.

If you do not have the wealth and financial freedom you desire, most likely the mechanics are not the problem. All that you will have in the future with respect to your wealth and money will emerge from you, so YOU are the most important factor for your wealth and financial freedom. My system focuses on YOU—all of you, so that the foundation from which your wealth arises will be strong and capable of creating and sustaining true wealth and financial freedom.

Check it out, share your feedback, and continue to enjoy the adventure!

With love,

Ben
